Relocating to Bend
Moving to Bend from out of the area? I'll help you narrow down the right parts of town before you travel, show you homes by video when you can't be here, and handle the details from a distance through closing.

Buying in Bend From Somewhere Else
Many of my buyers are moving here from out of state, and some buy a home they've only seen on a screen. That can work well with the right preparation and someone local you trust to tell you what the listing photos don't.
I was raised in Bend and have lived here for more than 30 years. I'll help you understand how the different parts of town feel day to day, so your search starts in the right places.
How I Help You Move to Bend
Narrow down neighborhoods before you travel
Before you book a flight, we'll talk about how you want to live: what you'd like to be close to, how much space you need, and your budget. Then I'll suggest a short list of neighborhoods and nearby towns, so your visit is spent on homes that actually fit. Start with my Bend area guide, the Bend neighborhoods guide, or explore all of the areas I serve.
Video tours by FaceTime or phone
Can't get here for every showing? I can walk you through a home live on FaceTime or another video call, so you can ask questions as we go and see the rooms, the yard and the views the way you would in person.
What the photos don't show
When I preview a home for you, I'll report back on the things listing photos leave out:
- Street noise. How busy the street is and what you hear from the yard.
- Driveway slope. Worth knowing before your first snowy morning.
- Sun on the deck. Which way the back deck faces and where the afternoon sun lands.
Closing from a distance
Much of the paperwork can usually be signed electronically, and I'll coordinate with your lender, the title company and inspectors so the long-distance part feels a lot less long distance.
Relocation Questions I Hear Often
Can I buy a home in Bend without seeing it in person?
Some buyers do. We'll use video tours, detailed previews and your inspection report to fill in what you can't see yourself, and I'll tell you honestly when I think a home deserves an in-person look before you commit.
How do I choose a neighborhood from out of state?
Start with how you want to live day to day, then let me suggest a few areas that match. My Bend area guide and neighborhoods guide are good places to begin, and we can narrow the list together before you travel.
When should I contact you about a move?
As early as you like. The sooner we talk, the more time we have to narrow down areas, line up a lender and plan a visit that counts.
